So-called Minor Design Changes and Repairs will be approved at the Lufthansa Technik Design Organisation. The Design Organisation is led by Mr. Bernhard Conrad, the Head of the Design Organisation. The integration into the Design Organisation of Lufthansa Technik is another important milestone for Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey and will improve its competitiveness on the engine maintenance market for Regional Operators.
Due to increasing customer cost saving demands for MRO services for regional aircrafts as well as a continued ambition for innovations, the managing directors of Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey, Mark Johnson (CEO) and Martin Hach (COO), initialised the integration into the Lufthansa Technik Design Organisation in 2011.
The project "EASA Part 21/J" started in the summer of 2011 under the lead of Project Manager Mirko Roeder, Customer Support Engineer with Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey. Mirko Roeder has obtained the authorisation as a Design Engineer.
Time frame as well as quality performance of this project required a close co-operation with the departments "Design Organization & Innovation" and "Engineering Engine" of Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg.
Various conditions had to be fulfilled before Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey could fully integrate into the Lufthansa Technik Design Organisation.
A further aspect of the integration into the Design Organisation was the training of Design Engineers. This was the first step towards a Design Assurance System for Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey.
Staff members of Engine Engineering (PWC und GE) and Repair Engineering were trained to assure that all departments of Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey will be involved in all future processes.
The Head of Design Department, Technical Director Thomas Hoffmann, will be responsible for all Design Engineers at Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey.
In addition to the Design Organisation integration and the nomination of the Design Engineers, the aim of Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey is to establish the position of CVE (Compliance Verification Engineer) directly in Alzey as well.
Mr. Bernhard Conrad welcomed Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey to the Design Organisation by authorising the Design Engineers and by presenting the official certificate to Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey during a festive ceremony at the facilities of Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey on the 15 August. Bernhard Conrad stated that now Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey has committed itself to fullfill the high quality expectations of the Design Organisation. However, Bernhard Conrad expressed that, due to the good experiences the past two years, he was absolutely convinced that AERO Alzey would be able to meet these commitments.
Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey (LTAA) and Eurowings have signed an exclusive agreement for repair and overhaul services on at least 30 aircraft engines.
LTAA will provide a engine support for the Austrian regional airline's Bombardier Dash 8 Q300 fleet.
