August 13, 2013 ... TIMCO Aviation Services, Inc. announced today that its subsidiary, TIMCO Aerosystems (“TIMCO”), has been issued a Design Organization Approval (DOA) certificate by the United Arab Emirates' (UAE) General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). The certificate validates that TIMCO is in compliance with all regulatory requirements for completing and approving Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) modifications on UAE-registered aircraft.
The designation is similar to TIMCO’s existing Organization Delegation Authorization (ODA) issued by the United States’ Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The GCAA DOA enables TIMCO to issue design and manufacturing approvals, introducing the prospect for process efficiencies and project schedule responsiveness for customers. Importantly, the DOA drives aviation safety through adherence to minimal standards and requirements, thereby conveying a level of integrity in DOA-designees like TIMCO in their certification and parts manufacturing practices.
Jose Pevida, Vice President of Engineering said, “We are very pleased with the new GCAA DOA designation as it demonstrates the GCAA’s level of confidence in our adherence to design modification compliance standards.” He continued, “It should certainly allow us to improve the certification process and will become an important service enhancement for our UAE customers.”
TIMCO has held its FAA ODA since 2009, and it had been a Designated Alteration Station (DAS) under the FAA’s preceding program since 1995. The company has developed over 300 FAA STC’s, primarily related to aircraft interiors and systems integration. TIMCO Aerosystems is one of a select few global companies that can support its customers with a full spectrum of aircraft cabin solutions including state-of-the-art design engineering; interiors products including the FeatherWeight™ line of galleys, lavatories and seating; integration project management; and certification services.
