Rio de Janeiro, August 12, 2013. TAP Maintenance & Engineering Brazil (TAP M&E Brazil) received the Logistics Efficiency Award, in the category “Others”, from INFRAERO, which highlights the companies that most efficiently manage the logistical processes at freight terminals, and encourages them to pursue continuous improvement in the clearance processes. The award was presented to Engineer Nestor Koch and Mr. Álvaro Silva, who are, respectively, the President & CEO and Import/Export Supervisor of TAP M&E Brazil.

It is a great honor for us to receive this award at the first edition of this program. This is recognition that our team has put forth great efforts to improve the custom clearance times, in order to meet the needs of our customers, for importing and exporting aircraft parts and components. In the MRO segment, more than 95% of the materials needed depend on import and/or export processes that must be concluded in less than 30 days after they have begun, in order to be able to fulfill the contractual turn-around times (TAT). Our internal KPIs showed that we would be competing for leadership with other companies, which is a source of great pride and encourages us to improve our processes on a daily basis. We invest heavily in technology, training our personnel, and in perfecting our internal processes, always with an eye to better meeting the needs of our customers,” Nestor Koch stated.

The awards ceremony, which took place on July 31, in the FIERGS auditorium, in Porto Alegre, honored seven categories established by INFRAERO, related to the types of freight: Technology, Metal Mechanics, Shoes and Leather Goods, Automotive, Others and Outstanding Importer or Exporter. This was the first edition of the event in the Southern Region of Brazil. The data are based on a monthly monitoring of several freight forwarding segments, by which the participants in this sector are able to measure the performance of all those who are involved in the importation process, including their service providers, and the result is posted in a ranking of the companies.
