August 8, 2013 – Seattle, Wash. – On July 23rd, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certified Raisbeck Engineering’s Swept Blade Turbofan Propellers for all 200-Series Beechcraft King Airs. The propellers meet both the FAA/EASA Certification requirements and the strict environmental protection requirements of the European Community. European operators will now benefit from this EASA certification release.
These benefits include quieter operation and increased thrust, due to the effects of blade sweep and increased propeller diameter. Striking ramp presence is another tangible benefit. The Raisbeck Swept Blade Propellers are also fully certified with the Raisbeck EPIC Platinum Performance Package* and attractively priced when purchased in combination with the EPIC System. The FAA/EASA has also fully certified the EPIC/Swept Propeller Airplane Flight Manual Supplement, providing the operator with the best overall performance of any King Air ever certified or offered, regardless of model.
Raisbeck and Hartzell Propeller teamed to develop and certify the Swept Props, the first business aviation turbine propeller to apply practical swept-wing theory as an integral part of their design. Deliveries of Production Swept Blade Propellers began in the United States in March 2013. They provide over 1,090 feet improvement in published FAA takeoff performance compared to the OEM propellers. The sweep of the blades allows for a larger diameter prop for greater thrust with noticeably lower cabin noise.
“Noise levels are extremely important to European aviation,” said Raisbeck Customer Support VP Bill Lally. “The combination of shorter runway requirements and quieter operation will open up many European Community airfields to King Air operators who install them.”
The new propellers are built with proven, affordable aluminum construction by Hartzell Propeller, the leader in General Aviation propeller manufacturing. The research and design phase of the new turbofan’s development took over three years, led by Hartzell’s Michael Schulte and Raisbeck’s Davud Kasparov. Working together they honed an attractive, efficient, and revolutionary propeller.
