The Hangar Ten Aviation Services complex, located at the Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport (MKC), is responding to pent-up demand for new hangar space by adding an 11,000 sq. ft. multi-use facility.

The planned structure will feature a large bay, capable of hangaring aircraft the size of a Citation X, as well as adjoining offices which will house the new Hangar 10 Aircraft Sales initiative.

“As we emerge from a down market, Hangar Ten is experiencing demand for additional hangar and office space to accommodate the needs of current base customers,” said Jim Stowers, founder and developer of Hangar Ten.  “We’ve now come to the point where expansion is possible and we look forward to serving the needs of these important, existing customers for years to come.”

Over the past three years, Hangar Ten has experienced an increase in transient traffic and fuel volume has increased as a result. In addition, the facility has strengthened its business relationship with fractional aircraft operators and has been acclaimed internationally by taking top honors in major aviation industry surveys.

“Our excellent service team has really delivered a great customer service experience and our business has seen steady growth as a result,” said Kyle Eiserer, General Manager. “This new investment in infrastructure is a direct reflection of the hard work and dedication of our people.”

The design for the new hangar is being done by Dye Aviation, Atlanta, GA; architects are H2B Architects, Kansas City, MO; and the general contractor is Meyer Brothers Building Company, Kansas City, Mo. Construction for the new facility will begin in September with a completion scheduled for January, 2014.

The planned hangar and office expansion will complement the existing 55,000 sq. ft. Hangar Ten facility. The master planned aviation complex is a cultural and design departure from traditional airport service operations combining a blend of gracious Midwest hospitality, unique customer amenities and bold environmentally friendly elements.  It has been recognized for its sustainable environmental features including numerous green initiatives.

Operating 24 hours, seven days a week, the facility has 25 highly skilled employees who service primarily the needs of customers operating business aircraft.
