20 Students Graduating from GTCC's Aviation Program Start Work at TIMCO

The graduates are embarking on an accelerated training program developed by TIMCO and GTCC that will provide five weeks of additional training specific to the type of MRO of commercial aircraft performed for TIMCO customers.

GREENSBORO, NC—5 August, 2013 … TIMCO Aviation Services (“TIMCO”) and Guilford Technical Community College (“GTCC”) announced today that 20 students graduating from GTCC’s Aviation Systems Technology Program started employment at TIMCO on August 1st. The graduates are embarking on an accelerated training program developed by TIMCO and GTCC that will provide five weeks of additional training specific to the type of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of commercial aircraft performed for TIMCO customers. 

Andy Halsey, Vice President of Human Resources at TIMCO, said, “This is one of the largest groups of graduates we have hired from GTCC at one time. We always prefer to hire from our local community, and GTCC continues to be a great partner to help us fill the need we have for highly skilled employees.”

Pete Laszcz, General Manager of TIMCO’s Greensboro MRO operations added, “Our industry is facing strong demand for qualified aircraft maintenance technicians. We are very excited to welcome these new GTCC graduates into the TIMCO family and to support the growth in business we are experiencing with our customers.”

Dr. Richard Pagan, Division Chairman of the Transportation Technologies at GTCC, said, “We have designed and adapted our programs at GTCC to provide the kind of industry-specific education aerospace employers in our region are seeking. Seeing these 20 graduates move into full time jobs with TIMCO is an exciting validation of our approach.”
