ICON Aircraft Offers Reduced Deposit on A5 at EAA AirVenture 2013 to Celebrate Production Progress

For the duration of the show, ICON is reducing the deposit for a production position of its A5 amphibious Light Sport Aircraft from $5,000 to $2,000.

LOS ANGELES (29 July 2013)—ICON Aircraft announced that it is offering a promotion to celebrate its recent production progress during the 2013 EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Air Show, which runs from 29 July to 4 August. For the duration of the show, ICON is reducing the deposit for a production position of its A5 amphibious Light Sport Aircraft from $5,000 to $2,000. The promotion is available for all orders, regardless of whether they are placed in person at the show or online.

“In the last year, ICON Aircraft has continued to transition from being a company focused on the development of the A5 to being almost completely focused on its full-scale production,” said ICON VP of Sales Craig Bowers. “The engineering and design team has completed the design for the A5 in its entirety, meaning that every component of the aircraft’s 16 major systems—down to the smallest nut, bolt, and fastener—has been identified, designed, and modeled in ICON’s computer-aided design program. Tooling for many of the components is well under way. To celebrate this progress, we want to make it even easier to become an A5 position holder during the week of EAA AirVenture by reducing the required deposit from $5,000 to $2,000.”

The company also announced this week that the FAA has granted the company’s exemption request for a higher gross weight to allow the inclusion of a Spin-Resistant Airframe and other safety features, following a fourteen month deliberation by the FAA. This follows several other favorable announcements from the company including a $60 million D round of financing and a new video highlighting the safety and ease of use of the A5’s Angle of Attack system.

ICON Aircraft will attend EAA AirVenture with a booth in its usual location on Celebration Way between Cessna and Cirrus.
