OSHKOSH, Wisc., July 28, 2013 – Donaldson Aerospace & Defense, a division of Donaldson Company, Inc. (NYSE: DCI), is offering new, high-performance, reusable engine air filters for Robinson Helicopter Company’s popular R22 and R44 models.

Available now through Robinson’s parts network, the new filters draw on Donaldson’s advanced aerospace filtration expertise to protect Lycoming carbureted and fuel-injected engines powering the R22 and R44. The filters, part number P625364 (B771-1) for the R22 and P625370 (B771-2) for the R44, replace automotive-style paper filters.

The new filters feature Donaldson’s high-performance, synthetic dry media designed to maximize the capture of contaminants while minimizing engine intake air pressure drop in operating conditions from minus 40 degrees to 200 Fahrenheit. The lightweight filter contains the media pack within aluminum end covers and liners. Unlike competitive offerings, the Donaldson media does not require oiling, which makes the filter easy to clean and reuse.  The filter should be inspected every 100 flight hours, and the specially designed media can be cleaned by blowing out with compressed air and washing it with a mild detergent.

“The Robinson R22 and R44 are among the most popular helicopters flying today and play important roles in training the next generation of pilots,” said Mark Brandenhoff, Global Director of Sales Aerospace & Defense. “These high-performance filters help protect the performance of the helicopters’ engines on those and other important missions while simplifying maintenance requirements for R22 and R44 owners and operators.”

Donaldson will exhibit these and other products to protect the performance and reliability of general aviation aircraft at EAA’s 2013 Airventure Oshkosh from July 29 through August 4. Donaldson’s exhibit is at Booth No. 1110 in Hangar A.
