NavWorx ADS600-B Receives TSO

July 26, 2013
The ADS600-B meets the FAA's 2020 mandate for ADS-B equipage in all aircraft operating in U.S. airspace where a transponder is now required.

ROWLETT, TEXAS, JULY 26, 2013 – NavWorx, Inc. announced today the successful completion of FAA TSO design approval for its ADS600-B™ Universal Access Transceiver (UAT). The ADS600-B is a remote mounted UAT optimized for use with the FAA’s NextGen transportation system. The ADS600-B meets the FAA’s 2020 mandate for ADS-B equipage in all aircraft operating in U.S. airspace where a transponder is now required.

The TSO authorized ADS600-B is a single device that sends ADS-B Out information and receives ADS-B In information including ADS-B, ADS-R and TIS-B traffic and FIS-B weather.  Providing multiple interfaces, the ADS600-B supports a variety of panel-mounted EFIS, MFD and portable displays. The ADS600-B is certified to TSO-C154c.

Options for the ADS600-B include an ARINC 429 interface allowing connectivity to devices such as the Garmin GNS 530/430, not supported by Garmin or other ADS-B devices. A WiFi Adapter allows wireless connectivity to iPad applications. An internal TSO-C145c WAAS GPS from Accord Technology completes the installation in the absence of an existing certified GPS input source.

Bill Moffitt, president of NavWorx, commented, “The ADS600-B both transmits and receives critical flight data and information services into the cockpit. It was designed in conjunction with the FAA’s development of ADS-B technology and takes full advantage of the features of the future national airspace system.” Moffitt continued, “NavWorx is committed to making ADS-B affordable. The ADS600-B was designed with the current aircraft owner in mind. Pilots can choose from a variety of options to display this data, including panel mounted or portable devices.”

Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) is FAA’s satellite-based successor to radar delivering the benefits of NextGen air transportation technology to general aviation aircraft. ADS-B makes use of GPS technology to determine and share precise aircraft location information, and streams additional flight information to the cockpits of properly equipped aircraft. NavWorx ADS600-B has been extensively tested and has consistently met the challenges of a rapidly evolving technology.

While other products may appear to offer similar features, only NavWorx delivers the full benefits of ADS-B, requiring no transponder or display changes, additional equipment or installations. The ADS600-B is a single, compact unit and fully compatible with the most commonly used EFIS, EFB, iPad and other devices.
