Vector Aerospace Obtains FAA STC for State of the Art Cockpit Voice and Flight Data Recorder

In collaboration with L-3 Vertex Aerospace (L-3), it received FAA Supplemental Type Certification in July 2013 and recently delivered CVFDR systems on four AS332L aircraft.

world’s leading independent providers of aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, is happy to announce the availability of an FAA certified CVFDR applicable to AS332 helicopters. In collaboration with L-3 Vertex Aerospace (L-3), Whiting Field, Florida, Vector Aerospace, Langley, BC, received FAA Supplemental Type Certification in July 2013 and recently delivered CVFDR systems on four AS332L aircraft.

“Our CVFDR solution is the only FAA approved CVFDR retrofit solution available on the market, further enhancing the mission capability profile of the venerable AS332 helicopter,” states Elvis Moniz, VP Operations Langley. “Together with L-3, we’ve brought advanced CVFDR capabilities to the AS332 affordably, with minimal downtime.”

The CVFDR retrofit package features a light-weight solid, low power consumption state of the art Cockpit voice and flight data recorder with an underwater acoustic Beacon and a six year battery-life warranty. A digital flight data acquisition unit is also included as part of the system, capable of recording over 25 flight data parameters, with integrated optional RIPS, requiring no additional wiring. The CVFDR system is rated at 50,000 hrs MTBF and meets part 135 operating requirements.
