Swissport Grows Business In North America

Highlights include a deal with JetAirways in Toronto, the first contract for this client in North America.

Swissport USA, Inc. has recently inaugurated ground handling services at a series of new stations in its North America region with U.S. domestic carriers.

Among them, Swissport USA has initiated a new business partnership with Virgin America with a three-year agreement to provide ramp handling services at Los Angeles International Airport, the 2nd largest hub in the Virgin America network. With handling agreements at Los Angeles, Anchorage (passenger and ramp) and Boston (ramp), Swissport now operates at three US stations for Virgin America.

Other North American business highlights include the following:

  • Frontier Airlines: Swissport was awarded three-year contracts for ramp and passenger services in seven U.S. markets (SNA, OMA, STL, CLE, ABQ, SFO, LAX) in 2013, of which four markets are new for Swissport USA. In a joint operation with sister company Hallmark Aviation, Swissport today provides Frontier Airlines with services in nine markets in the US, including Chicago and Anchorage, which were won in late 2012.
  • USAir: Swissport was awarded ramp handling contracts in two new markets for Swissport of (DAY) Dayton, Ohio and (PWM) Portland, Maine.
  • American Airlines: Swissport has awarded a three-year contract to provide ancillary passenger service functions at Miami International hub.
  • Additionally, Swissport recently won passenger service handling for Air France/KLM at Toronto Pearson International Airport, for COPA at Miami International Airport, and for Lufthansa and Swiss at Los Angeles International Airport. The company was also awarded ramp handling services in Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood for Caribbean Airlines, and JetAirways in Toronto, the first contract for this client in North America.
