Melville, New York, July 8, 2013. Sage Parts, the world’s leading supplier of replacement parts for ground support equipment, has announced that it has opened a new, stand-alone Sage parts and services facility onsite at O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Historically, airlines and ground support operations located on the continent of Africa have experienced difficulties in obtaining GSE replacement parts.

“Through our own market research and from the requests of several of our large global customers, we identified a vital need for an industry-benchmark GSE replacement parts facility in South Africa,” said Mark Pollack, Sage Parts President and CEO. “With the addition of our onsite airport facility in Johannesburg, concurrent with the opening of our new onsite facility in Santiago, Chile, Sage Parts is continuing its strategy of bringing parts and GSE services closer to the point of use ... enhancing the cost efficiencies and day-to-day productivity of ground support operations at an extensive array of locations around the world.”

The new Sage Parts facility at JNB will provide readily available GSE replacement parts, as well as optimal parts quality and consistency, substantially reducing potential equipment downtime while enhancing return on GSE investment.

In addition, through Sage’s industry-leading parts expertise, ground support operations at the airport can be assured that they are obtaining the right parts for servicing their GSE, including every part for every brand.

Sage Parts’ onsite facility at O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg will also be an authorized TLD spare parts distributor, the first for a Sage operation. TLD is among the largest manufacturers of ground support equipment in the world, and operators of TLD equipment at JNB and throughout the region will gain the benefit of local parts support – via the new Sage facility at the airport – as if they are working directly with the OEM.

“The new Sage Parts facility at JNB represents a great opportunity for our company to leverage Sage’s incomparable geographic reach and parts expertise, underscored by the advantages of local onsite presence,” said Valentin Schmitt, Regional CEO for TLD. “Just as important, the facility will offer enhanced support for our customers in the South Africa region through Sage’s unparalleled GSE parts knowledge and experience."

To complement the increased parts support in the region, TLD will also be adding a new field service technician to the regional who will be based in South Africa.
