Redbird Flight Simulations of Austin, Texas, has signed a lease at nearby San Marcos Municipal Airport (KHYI) for an innovative, multi-pronged aviation business that aims to do training differently. The facility will house a traditional FBO with fuelsales and a foodie-quality eatery, as well as a flight school that will incorporate Redbird’s popular flight simulators into the curriculum. The facility, known as Redbird Skyport, will also be home to a high-end flight experience center, where individuals or groups can come to get a first-rate flight training experience.
Skyport’s FBO will start with more than a dozen airplanes and nine flight simulators, from Redbird’s desktop FX trainer models to the company’s full-motion airplane-specific FX model. Redbird plans to break ground soon and move into its new facility in November of this year.
