In Case of Emergency, Lockheed Martin Flight Services and Spidertracks Are Calling in the Cavalry

Updates to the Lockheed Martin Flight Services (LMFS) automation system using spidertracks real-time flight tracking and communications technology will make General Aviation in the USA safer and more convenient.

There is nothing more important in General Aviation than pilot safety.  New updates to the Lockheed Martin Flight Services (LMFS) automation system using spidertracks real-time flight tracking and communications technology will make General Aviation in the USA safer and more convenient.

Using Spider-generated positions reports, the LMFS Surveillance-Enhanced Search and Rescue (SE-SAR) service automatically monitors flights and determines if aircraft stop moving, stop reporting their position, or transmit an emergency signal. As a result, search and rescue procedures can be initiated with more precision and speed than previously possible.

The LMFS Adverse Condition Alerting Service (ACAS) generates alerts for safety-critical weather or aeronautical situations that arise after a pilot has been briefed and filed a flight plan. Spidertracks communications capabilities allow these alerts to be delivered directly to the cockpit.  Spidertracks is the first and only Iridium device at the moment receiving in-flight ACAS alerts.

Spidertracks is proud to be have been chosen by Lockheed Martin as the first tracking and communications system to integrate with their services. SE-SAR is available for use with all spidertracks position reporting units and ACAS alerts can be received on spidertracks Spiders S4 and Spiders S5.  All LMFS services are free to pilots.  Devices must be registered on the LMFS Pilot Web Portal at www.lmfsweb.afss.com. For more information on setup, visit the spidertracks support website.
