The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has given an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR) to the Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) for its Popular Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ended April 30, 2012.

The Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting is a prestigious award recognizing conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government popular reports. The submission for the 2012 fiscal year represents the first time that RFD produced a Popular Annual Financial Report. RFD has won the award for Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) fifteen years in a row, but this is the first award for the Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR).

In order to receive the Award for Popular Annual Financial Reporting, a government unit must publish a PAFR, whose contents conform to program standards of creativity, presentation, understandability, and reader appeal. The report includes more than financial information and is essentially a review of all aspects of airport operation over the fiscal year.

“Our staff continues to show its ability to excel by adding awards whenever they are given the opportunity,” said RFD Director Mike Dunn. “We are committed to providing the taxpayers with a clear understanding of how effective RFD is with the funds with which we have been entrusted, and the annual report clearly paints that picture.”

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals.
