Astronics Names Dale Farr as Max-Viz Rotary Sales Manager

Farr joins Astronics after serving as aviation safety manager and tanker pilot for Erickson Air-Crane Inc.

EAST AURORA, N.Y., June 11, 2013 — Astronics Corporation (NASDAQ: ATRO), a leading provider of advanced technologies for the global aerospace and defense industries, has named Dale G. Farr as rotary sales manager for the company’s line of Max-Viz Enhanced Vision Systems.

“Dale brings to Astronics more than 30 years of civilian and military rotary-wing experience, flying multiple helicopters in aerial firefighting, emergency medical services and offshore operations,” said Astronics Executive Vice President Elliott Troutman. “Throughout his career, Dale has focused on operational safety and his familiarity with enhanced situational awareness will be of great benefit and value to our helicopter customers.” 

Farr joins Astronics after serving as aviation safety manager and tanker pilot for Erickson Air-Crane Inc. He retired from the United States Army in 2001 as a chief warrant officer four master aviator where he was a military standardization instructor pilot. He is an accredited aviation safety manager holding a master level certification in aviation safety and security from the USC Viterbi School of Engineering.

Farr’s extensive background includes search and rescue, medevac, air assault, special operations, offshore, heavy lift, and maintenance, repair and overhaul operations. Additionally, he possesses aviation safety experience covering aviation safety program development, aircraft accident and incident investigation, safety training and safety audits, cockpit resource management instruction, and aircrew training program development with a specialization that includes aircraft systems integration, aviation safety and flight standardization. 

He has type ratings in the Sikorsky SK64-E/F and S-70. His rotor wing flight experience also includes Eurocopter BO 105, Agusta A109 MK II, Bell 206BIII, Sikorsky UH-60 Blackhawk, and Sikorsky MH-60K Blackhawk. Farr is a member of the Helicopter Association International Safety Committee.

Farr holds a degree in aviation maintenance technology from the Spartan School of Aeronautics and has attended the U.S. Army Warrant Officer Career College where he completed several baccalaureate level management training courses. He also successfully completed the National Transportation Safety Board Rotary Wing Accident Investigation Course.
