Basel / Switzerland, May 28, 2013 – Jet Aviation Basel and Boeing Business Jets worked together to show the first BBJ 3 to ever hit the static display at EBACE in Geneva. The BBJ 3 was outfitted at Jet Aviation Basel in 2012 with a custom VIP interior created by the Jet Aviation Design Studio.

Jet Aviation, which designed and completed the bespoke cabin interior of this particular BBJ 3 at its Design Studio and Completions Center in Basel, joined forces with Boeing Business Jets to display for the first time ever the ultra-long range corporate jet at EBACE 2013. The owner of the BBJ 3 is selling the aircraft and has left the exterior unpainted for the new owner to choose their own design.

Comfortably accommodating 38 passengers and eight crew members, the BBJ 3 includes a spacious lounge, dining room, staff area and private bedroom with en-suite bathroom. The VVIP interior is fully outfitted with the finest available materials, featuring real stone vanities, carpeting hand-tufted with silk details, marquetry inlays and metal surfaces treated with a Satin Champagne Gold finish. “As the first privately owned BBJ 3 to be completed at Jet Aviation Basel, the highly customized cabin interior is finished in a flawless, bright, high-gloss quarter-figured Sycamore wood, with hand-crafted marquetry artwork integrated in the entrance panel,” says Neil Boyle, vice president of the Completions Center at Jet Aviation Basel.

Jet Aviation Basel has outfitted Boeing aircraft since 1978 and became a Boeing Authorized Completions and Maintenance Service Center in 1996. The company has delivered 24 completed Boeing aircraft since partnering with Boeing, including BBJ 1, BBJ 2, BBJ 3, B757-200, B767-200, B767-300, B747-400 and B747-SP aircraft.

Adds Jet Aviation Group president Dan Clare, “Our working partnership with Boeing has been very productive and we will continue delivering quality work and craftsmanship for the benefit of our mutual customers.” As the newest and largest aircraft in the Boeing family of business jets, the BBJ 3 is based on the 737-900ER (Extended Range) airliner and is particularly noted for its spacious cabin, measuring 107.3 feet long, 11.7 feet wide and 7.1 feet high (32.7m x 3.57m x 2.16m).

"The BBJ 3 has a range of 4,900 nautical miles, which exceeds that of other business jets in its class. This range advantage is why the BBJ3 has out sold its direct competitor by seven to one,” said Capt. Steve Taylor, president, BBJ. “Our customers demand airplanes with great performance, enabling them to conduct business around the world.”

With over 30 years of experience in painting and protecting aircraft from corrosion, Jet Aviation Basel offers a wide selection of exterior paint liveries through its on-site Paint Shop.
