Ground handler has won the award 15 times.

Singapore, 9 May 2013 – SATS has clinched the "Best Air Cargo Terminal in Asia" title at the 27th Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA) held in Beijing. It is the 15th time that SATS has received this award, which recognises an air cargo terminal for service excellence based on the votes cast by professionals in the logistics and cargo industry.

On winning this prestigious award, Mr Ronald Yeo, SATS Senior Vice President for Cargo Services said: “I would like to thank our customers and partners for their unstinting support all these years. My team and I are greatly encouraged by this recognition and we will work hard to continuously enhance and offer excellent services to our customers.”

Yeo added: “As a leader in Gateway Services, SATS is constantly pushing for innovation and service improvements to offer value-added and more efficient services to the market. In the last 12 months, we implemented several new initiatives to enhance our process efficiency and service offerings. They include the use of mobile tablets for greater accuracy in checking export airway bill manifests – a first in an Asian airfreight terminal – and the introduction of a barcoding and scanning system to improve accountability and traceability of express shipments, from acceptance to physical loading in the aircraft hold. In addition, we successfully handled Singapore's first air-sea trial transhipment of chilled lamb from New Zealand to the UK through Coolport@Changi, paving the way for potential new trade flows through our on-airport perishables handling facility.”

The AFSCA is organised by Cargonews Asia, the region’s leading publication for Asian cargo shippers, to honour organisations for demonstrating leadership as well as consistency in service quality, innovation, customer relationship management and reliability. The Best Air Cargo Terminal category specifically looks to service providers to communicate clear performance standards to users, offer satisfactory resolution of problems for users, invest in new terminal infrastructure to cater to future demand and maintain effective and user-friendly IT systems.
