April 10, 2013, Orlando, FL – Air-Transport IT Services, Inc. (AirIT), the leading provider of innovative information technology products and services to the air transportation industry, today announces the successful implementation and integration of AirIT’s shared use system, EASE™ (Extended Airline System Environment), for US Airways at the Portland International Jetport (PWM).
EASE™ is a cornerstone of AirIT’s passenger processing systems platform which ultimately allows airlines to extend their applications onto the airport's common use systems environment. US Airways is the first air carrier to be operational on the EASE™ solution at PWM.
Betros Wakim, AirIT CEO said, “AirIT delivers technology to airports that fosters beneficial partnerships between the airport and its airline tenants. Only EASE™ can enable airports to facilitate true resource flexibility while simultaneously allowing airlines to use their proprietary software that supports their distinct business processes. EASE™ will allow US Airways at PWM to better manage passenger processing by providing enhanced terminal-use flexibility.”
Scott C. Carr, A.A.E., Deputy Airport Director at Portland International Jetport stated, “We made the decision to deploy AirIT’s shared use passenger processing system at the Portland International Jetport to increase terminal flexibility, contain cost for our airline partners, and increase our air service development marketing efforts. We’re pleased that US Airways, who is our largest airline that operates up to 13 daily flights from PWM, became the first to use EASE™. In addition, we look forward to using this system to enhance our value proposition with other carriers in the future.”
The EASE™ virtualized technology solution delivers true flexibility and cost savings airports can pass on to airline partners. The platform can be implemented at any airport, regardless of size, at a cost far below that of traditional common use systems, which are based on proprietary software and limited to using only the operating systems, computers, and peripherals approved by the system vendor. EASE™ is currently operational at 26 airports in North America.
