niceviewTM: Now on all the Lufthansa long-haul fleets

April 9, 2013
Following the A380 and 747-8 the system is now to be installed in Lufthansa's other long-haul aircraft

Lufthansa Technik's niceview[TM] modern moving map system is proving highly successful. Following the first installations on its flagship Airbus A380s and Boeing 747-8s, Deutsche Lufthansa AG has now decided to use the system developed by the innovation experts of Lufthansa Technik on all its long-range types in the future. The work of installing the system on the large Airbus A330/A340 fleet and the remaining Boeing 747-400s will commence this year. The system will then be fitted on almost 120 aircraft in service with Lufthansa.

The niceview[TM] moving map system offers high-resolution 3-D maps for different regions of the world as well as virtual flights. It shows passengers the latest information and conveys a unique visual experience. Integration of the latest flight simulation technology and authentic satellite maps make it possible to offer different photorealistic 2-D and 3-D views for infotainment applications in real time, with resolutions of up to one meter per pixel. The system can easily be installed in the frame of virtually any maintenance check, thus ensuring there is no loss of operating time for the aircraft.

A number of airlines, mostly European, are already using Lufthansa Technik's system. niceview[TM] is also installed in many government and VIP aircraft and many business jets.
