Volga-Dnepr Technics GmbH (VDT), a representative of Volga-Dnepr Technics Sub Group in Europe, has launched a new aircraft Wheel and Brake Repair Shop at Leipzig/Halle Airport in Germany.

The workshop is located within the newly-built hangar designed to accommodate aircraft maintenance and repair facilities which was commissioned by Leipzig/Halle Airport in January 2013. Prior to the opening of the new maintenance shop, the company underwent an audit which has resulted in VDT GmbH extending its EASA Part 145 Certificate with a C14 Rating for the repair and maintenance of wheels and brakes on Boeing 747-200/300/400/8 aircraft types.

“This is yet another stage of implementation of the VDT Sub Group strategy for business expansion in Europe. We will continue to work hard to diversify the list of services offered to our clients and expand the range of aircraft we can service. In 2013, we intend to add to our certificate a new aircraft type such as the Boeing 737," said Ildar Ilyassov, Managing Director of VDT GmbH.

VDT GmbH is a western-built aircraft maintenance and repair organization certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) under Part-145 standards (No DE.145.0468). Its main operation site is at Leipzig/Halle Airport (LEJ) where it operates from an 8,500 square meters hangar facility. This has the capacity to handle one wide-body aircraft of the Boeing 747 type or to provide simultaneous maintenance of four narrow body jets such as the Boeing 737 or Airbus A320. The company has also set up a Line Maintenance base at Frankfurt Airport. VDT GmbH is a specialist aircraft maintenance and repair business handling Boeing 747-200/300 (CF6-50) and Boeing 747-400 (CF6-80, PW 4000) aircraft types.
