WHIPPANY, N.J. April 2, 2013 – Breeze-Eastern Corporation (NYSE MKT: BZC), the aerospace industry’s only dedicated hoist and winch specialist, today announced a $6 million, 59-unit order from the U.S. Army. The Army’s purchase of 59 HS-29900 High Performance Rescue Hoists will further enhance the medical evacuation and search and rescue capabilities of its BLACK HAWK helicopters. Deliveries are anticipated to conclude within six months, and follow-on orders are expected to continue through 2014.
“Supporting these lifesaving missions of the U.S. Army, U.S. Army National Guard, and U.S. Army Reserve is a point of pride for the Breeze-Eastern team,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Brad Pedersen. “As the rescue hoist market leader, contributing to safe, successful operations is our top priority.”
The HS-29900 is the industry’s premier rescue hoist. Its unique Reactive Overload Clutch (ROC) feature is a next-generation improvement over standard slip-clutch technology used by competitive manufacturers. The ROC offers superior protection if the cable has high steady state loads and high shock loads. Shock loading can happen in a variety of operations and can have catastrophic results without this added protection.
The HS-29900 also provides the highest speed, fastest acceleration and unlimited duty cycle for all-weather operations. The rescue hoist is available for new production helicopters or as a retrofit on existing rotorcraft.
Breeze-Eastern Corporation is the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of high-performance lifting and pulling devices for helicopters, military cargo aircraft, and other aerospace/defense platforms, including rescue hoists, winches and cargo hooks, and weapons-lifting systems.
