One Sky Seeks Enhanced Vision STC for Pilatus PC-12
One Sky will accomplish the modeling for the Astronics Max-Viz-1500 nose-mounted PC-12 fairing this month and then seek FAA approval.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska, March 18, 2013 – One Sky Aviation is applying for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval for nose-mounted installation of the Astronics Max-Viz-1500 enhanced vision system on Pilatus PC-12 and Pilatus PC-12 NG aircraft.
One Sky’s Director of STC Development Cary Foster said, “We are working with Astronics Corporation and Pilatus Authorized Service Centers to bring the outstanding situational awareness safety of the Astronics Max-Viz-1500 to the Pilatus PC-12 fleet.”
One Sky has secured a Fortune 100 corporation as the launch customer for the Pilatus upgrade. One Sky will accomplish the modeling for the Astronics Max-Viz-1500 nose-mounted PC-12 fairing this month and then seek FAA approval.
“We hope to get this approved by the end of the year, but that of course is dependent upon the ability of the FAA to dedicate adequate resources to the project in a tough budget environment,” Foster said. “As soon as we get this approved, owners and operators of Pilatus PC-12 and PC-12NG aircraft will be able to get added safety with the Astronics Max-Viz-1500 installed in their airplanes.”
The Astronics Max-Viz-1500 is a dual optical field of view Enhanced Vision System (EVS) with patented image software. The system offers sensitivity and image clarity along with pilot-friendly features for performance in all phases of flight. The pilot-selectable dual field of view allows pilots to select wide-angle or telephoto views of the world. The wide angle gives maximum peripheral visibility during ground operations and the zoom provides early runway acquisition and detection of incursions during takeoff, approach and landing.
The STC will come with a glare-shield mounted display and allow for display options, including the Bendix King KMD-850, Garmin G-600 displays or any other FAA-approved RS-170 video display. The Astronics Max-Viz-1500 is compatible with the Honeywell Primus Apex primary display for Pilatus PC-12 NG aircraft.
For additional information Pilatus PC-12 operators should contact Astronics Max-Viz MRO Sales Manager Grant Sumpter at Grant.Sumpter@astronics.com or (503) 968-3036, ext. 118.
