Mesa, Arizona – March 4, 2013. Phoenix Heliparts has been awarded a sub-contract by SES, LLC, for work on the US State Department’s UH-1H helicopter modernization program. SES is one of three prime contractors for the program, which is worth $350 million; SES sub-contracted Phoenix to complete structural work, component procurement, engineering and wiring-harness services.
Currently in progress, Phoenix is completing its part of the project at its 40,000 square-foot facility in Mesa, Arizona. As the modernized UH-1Hs will have significantly greater capabilities, the airframes must also be upgraded to accept the higher performing drive train components and associated flight loads. Phoenix will be responsible for these airframe upgrades, as well as for the supply of dynamic, structural, cockpit and avionics components. The project is scheduled for completion in September 2013.
SES vice-president, Derek Paquette, said, “SES is very pleased to select Phoenix Heliparts to perform critical structural modifications and other efforts on the US State Department’s UH-1H refurbishment and upgrade effort. Phoenix Heliparts has an outstanding reputation in the rotary wing Modification, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) industry and we are confident they will provide exceptional value to this highly visible program.”
Phoenix Heliparts president, Tina Cannon, said, “The venerable UH-1H has been a workhorse machine for the US armed forces, and we are committed to keeping its spirit very much alive for years to come. The contract from SES is indication of our expertise and capacity; we won’t let them down.”
Paquette also added that Phoenix was chosen for the project because of its demonstrated performance and commitment to delivering quality product, on schedule.
