Time-Between-Overhaul interval increases to 4,000 hours

LAS VEGAS, NEV. (MARKETWIRE March 3, 2013 – HELI-EXPO) The time between overhaul (TBO) for all new PW206 and PW207 engines has been extended to 4,000 hours. The announcement was made during the Helicopter Association International (HAI) HELI-EXPO in Las Vegas, Nev. P&WC is a United Technologies Corporation company (NYSE:UTX).

“This TBO extension will help operators derive more value from their engines,” said Raffaele Virgili, Vice-President, Customer Service, P&WC. “It is the result of our ongoing investments to enhance our product and reflects the outstanding reliability and dependability of these industry-leading helicopter engines.”

The TBO extension is applicable to all new PW206 and PW207 engines. It is also available to engines currently in service that meet specifications as outlined in Service Information Letter No. PW200-045. An engine upgrade is available to operators wanting to take advantage of the increased TBO interval, which brings additional value from an operating cost standpoint.  For more information customers should contact P&WC’s CFirst customer assistance centre, or their local Field Support Representative.

PW200: Leading the world's light twin helicopter market

The PW200 is regarded as the industry's benchmark engine for the new generation of light twin-engine helicopters in the 600 shp to 700 shp class. Its superior engine performance, low operating costs and an unparalleled customer support network make it the engine of choice to power all modern light twin helicopters, which enjoy strong demand in emergency medical services, utility, law enforcement and general business.

The PW200's modular design makes it one of the simplest turboshaft engines in its class. New technologies, advanced materials and coatings provide greater power and lower fuel consumption combined with low emissions and high reliability. The reliability of the PW200 family of engines is unmatched, at rates that are ten times better than the industry standard. In addition, electronic control allows for reduced pilot workload, ease of helicopter operation and a safe one-engine inoperative pilot training feature.

The industrious PW200 family capped off 2012 with impressive numbers. With turboshaft engine deliveries tripling in the last decade, 2012 saw PW200 deliveries jump to 4,000 across 74 countries. The PW200 family of engines has logged more than six million flight hours.
