Jan. 7, 2013
It allows airlines and paint facilities to use one and the same paint system for any type of aircraft.

MRO Dubai will be the platform for AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings to present its latest high gloss exterior paint systems for aircraft.

The maintenance systems meet AMS 3095A and allow airlines and paint facilities to use one and the same paint system for any type of aircraft. Customized to the individual needs of the paint facility, the preferred paint solution provides customers, managing a mixed fleet of aircraft, maximum benefit with minimum change. It removes mixed fleet complexity by bringing one decorative system that facilitates the maintenance of the entire fleet of aircraft, no matter what type or model it is. To airlines it means that appearance variability within their fleet will be eliminated.

Clean solutions preferred

In line with AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings' commitment to offer environmentally progressive solutions that contribute to the success of the customer, a total chrome-free option is expected to receive AMS 3095A qualification soon. The chrome-free system option combines the use of Metaflex SP 1050 surface preparation with a chrome-free primer and a topcoat system. The topcoat system can be either an environmentally progressive AkzoNobel base coat/clear coat or a single stage topcoat.

Cost effective

Use of the chrome-free Metaflex SP 1050 surface preparation replaces the use of chromate conversion coatings, wash primers and other traditional pretreatment processes. Application of the water based pretreatment is an easy and safe process that does not require expensive equipment. It reduces paint preparation time and costs.

The combination of Metaflex SP 1050 with the AkzoNobel chrome-free primer and decorative system offer superior adhesion, system durability and outstanding performance. To suit the individual needs of the paint facility, chromate paint system options are available as well.

Application and maintenance costs can be further reduced by choosing the Aerobase and Aerodur Base Coat / Clear Coat decorative coating option. Both provide a top quality finish with faster turnaround times, superb gloss/color retention and extended durability.

Cabin coatings

AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings shall also be demonstrating their Aerofine range of aircraft interior coatings, created for the maintenance and refurbishment of aircraft internal cabin surfaces. The Aerofine brand represents consistent durability, ease of application and reliable performance at a fair price.

AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings present environmentally progressive solutions for cabin interiors and exterior coatings, offering a one stop coatings solution.
