SEA Receives AML STC for ADS-B

Dec. 18, 2012
Southeast Aerospace recently completed an AML STC #SA03984AT with FreeFlight's ADS-B solution.

Contracted by Auburn University through its Aviation Management/Professional Flight Education Program, Southeast Aerospace recently completed an AML STC #SA03984AT with FreeFlight’s ADS-B solution. The contract includes Engineering, Certification and Installation of the FreeFlight RANGR ADS-B Out system in a Cessna 172S. The project in its entirety, including engineering, was managed by Southeast Aerospace personnel.

With the development of this ADS-B project, SEA will offer support to the industry with an STC with AML approval for a 978MHz UAT solution. This solution meets the ADS-B DO-282B certification. The initial program included 3 airframe series, Cessna 150/172/182.  SEA is currently working on adding 7 additional airframe series to the AML.

Newly TSO’d equipment was used for this program. This is the first GA fixed wing STC for the FreeFlight 978 MHz UAT and the first ADS-B STC using a Mode C transponder. The equipment chosen for this project included: FreeFlight FDL-978-TX RANGR UAT, TC-978 control head, FTM-190C RF Decoder, 1201 GPS/WAAS receiver, two L-band antennas, and a GPS/WAAS antenna.

In addition to the equipment, SEA provided full FAA DAR/DER services. These services included detailed documentation such as Electrical & Structural Installation Drawings, Accomplishment Instructions, Wire Routing Diagrams, Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, and Aircraft Flight Manual Supplements. On-site installation of equipment, testing and certification was completed by SEA during this STC program.

SEA is pleased to be offering this ideal ADS-B “Out” installation solution to the public to address the upcoming ADS-B mandate. Contact SEA’s Program Management department ([email protected]) for additional details on this program, and learn how it might fit your ADS-B requirements.
