Houston Executive Airport Builds World’s Largest FBO Arrival Canopy

In the last ten months, Houston Executive expanded hangar lease space to over 122,000 square feet

HOUSTON – December 18, 2012 – In a state known for wildcatters and big ideas, Texas aviation enthusiast and businessman Ron Henriksen is once again making aviation headlines with the construction of the world’s largest FBO arrival canopy.

Measuring over 32,800 square feet, the canopy is part of the current construction of Henriksen Jet Center at Houston Executive Airport located along Houston’s energy corridor in west Houston. Weir Enterprises is building the canopy as part of ongoing construction of the 22,500-square-foot premier FBO terminal building which is expected to be completed and open for business in February 2013.

Henriksen’s passion for aviation, vision and keen business acumen continue to reap rewards for the state of Texas with the opening of Houston Executive Airport in 2007, and Austin Executive Airport in 2011. A former commercial pilot, Henriksen privately funded both airports.

“Texas continues to be a leader in the nation for aviation expansion and opportunities,” said Henriksen. “We’ve seen robust growth in both Houston and Austin, and it’s exciting to be involved in an industry that provides jobs, creates and retains new businesses, and has such a positive impact on the community. Houston Executive Airport’s upgrades will directly benefit business in our city for decades to come.”
Andrew Perry, A.A.E, Executive Director for Houston Executive Airport and Austin Executive Airport said the construction of the new terminal building will be a draw to Houston’s economy and answers the call for increased traffic at the airport. In the last ten months, Houston Executive expanded hangar lease space to over 122,000 square feet.

“Investing in the world’s largest arrival canopy provides another level of comfort for our customers, regardless of the weather,” said Perry. “It’s among key amenities that set Houston Executive apart from other airports. With the dedication and vision of Ron Henriksen, we’re at the forefront of making Houston a leader in general aviation facilities nationwide.”
