Iberia to Repair A-318 Components for TAROM Airlines
The contract will last for 5 years and includes repair, as well as pool access for TAROM A318 fleet components.
TAROM, the Romanian flag carrier, has signed a new contract with Iberia, for the full components support of TAROM A318 aircraft.
The contract will last for 5 years and includes repair, as well as pool access for TAROM A318 fleet components. The coverage includes full support for all type of components: electromechanicals, avionics, emergency equipment, engine LRUs, among others.
The maintenance operations will be carried out at Iberia Maintenance’s Madrid facilities, with 18 lines specialising in accessories, instruments and other components of A-320, A-340, A330, CRJ, MD80 family aircraft, as well as B-747 and B-757 aircraft. Iberia also inspects and repairs components for other airlines such as Iberia Express, Vueling, Iberia Regional Air Nostrum, Onur Air, Garuda Indonesia, Meridiana, Atlas Jet, Swiftair and Orbest Orizonia.
The Romanian Air Transport Company TAROM was established in 1954 and has been growing up with the Romanian aviation. TAROM carries out its activity under the authority of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and has been member of the SkyTeam Alliance since 25 June 2010, thus enabling its passengers to access more destinations and connections. Current fleet is composed of 2 A310, 4 A318, 4 B737 classic, 5 B737 NG and 9 ATR72/42. TAROM has been a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) since 1993 and of the Association of European Airliners (AEA) since 2000.
Iberia Maintenance inspects and repairs airframes, engines and components for Iberia itself and for about 100 outside clients. It is the world’s ninth-largest aircraft maintenance company and Spain’s largest in terms of revenue and staff, as well as in repair, high technology and the modification of aircraft. In 2011 it inspected some 200 aircraft engines and more than 66,000 components, while carrying out 1,161 A-checks on aircraft.
