PW210S Turboshaft Engine Powers Newly Certified Sikorsky S-76D

The PW210S is a new generation engine for large single and intermediate-to-medium twin helicopters in the 1,000 shp class.

ORLANDO, FLORIDA--(Marketwire - Oct. 30, 2012) - NBAA - When Sikorsky Aircraft begins deliveries of the newly FAA certified S-76D(TM) medium-sized helicopter this year, it will be powered by one of the industry's most advanced turboshaft engines, Pratt & Whitney Canada's (P&WC) PW210S. The announcement was made during the National Business Aviation Association's 65th annual meeting and convention in Orlando, Florida. P&WC is a United Technologies Corp. company (NYSE:UTX).

Sikorsky's S-76D helicopter achieved first flight in February of 2009. The PW210S engine received Transport Canada type certification in October of 2011 and FAA validation two months later. Production of the engine started in February of this year. The S-76D targets corporate, offshore oil, medical, airline and government operators around the world.
