Satellite Beach, Fla. (Oct. 29, 2012) – Satcom Direct, provider of satellite voice, fax, datalink and Internet communications solutions, launches Unity which is a new mobile satcom support product that allows avionics technicians to connect to multiple satcom systems for troubleshooting, diagnostic and configuration management.

The Unity product kit is compromised of a selection of terminal adapters and the new Get Satcom mobile application which access data from the satcom systems. The Get Satcom app supports and operates on the latest Apple iOS and allows customers to use their iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and new iPad mini to interface with satcom equipment. Get Satcom also allows for Satcom Direct's 24/7 support team to remotely access the satcom system through the Apple device, providing virtual on-site support wherever the aircraft is located.

Unity and Get Satcom were developed to help aircraft maintenance personnel extract required troubleshooting, maintenance and configuration data from the airborne satellite terminals and routers commonly used in the business aviation industry. Equipment that is currently supported by Unity and the Get Satcom app includes Honeywell MCS (3000/4000/6000/7000/7200), HD-710, CG-710, CR-710 and AIS-2000 Sat TV; Rockwell Collins (906/2100/2200) and HST/SRT; Thrane & Thrane Aviator Series (200/300/350/700); and EMS Aviation HSD (400/440), CNX (100/200/300) and the CCU (100/200).

"In the past, connecting to the maintenance ports on satcom systems required a laptop with a serial port, which is something current PCs no longer have, making it necessary to keep older systems around just to support the satcom," said Ken Bantoft, Vice President of Engineering for Satcom Integration. "We are very excited about Unity, as it eliminates the need for legacy laptops and allows a single kit to support multiple satcom systems, using a single app, Get Satcom."

"Customers and avionics technicians will be very pleased with the Unity product kit and Get Satcom app, as it offers great options for managing satcom systems," said Jim Jensen, founder and owner of Satcom Direct.

"This new solution allows remote sessions to be shared over 3G or Wi-Fi networks with Satcom Direct's support team for real-time support, or log files can be uploaded to Satcom Direct's cloud-based server."

Unity and the Get Satcom app will be on display in the Satcom Direct booth #770 at the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Annual Meeting & Convention in Orlando, Florida, October 30 to November 1 at the Orange County Convention Center.
