LORD Corporation Selected by Kestrel for the Engine Mount Solution for the Single-Engine Turboprop Aircraft

Oct. 29, 2012
LORD was selected based on its prior experience with business turbo-prop aircraft as well as a proven solution that is easily adapted for this aircraft.

(Cary, N.C.) - LORD Corporation — a leader in the management of vibration, noise and motion control — was selected by Kestrel Aircraft to provide an engine mount solution for the all composite single-engine turboprop aircraft.

According to Jesse DePriest, LORD Customer Manager, LORD was selected based on their prior experience with business turbo-prop aircraft as well as a proven solution that is easily adapted for this aircraft.

“We were chosen based on customer confidence in our existing low-profile LM-849 engine mount system that was originally designed and developed for the Piper Cheyenne 400 aircraft,” said DePriest. “Our mounts offer a proven design with a low-profile that offers excellent engine vibration isolation and streamlined cowl design.”

Although engineering is required to substantiate the mount solution to meet Kestrel requirements, because the LM-849 mount system was previously in production, LORD is able to meet Kestrel’s development schedule with little risk.

The Kestrel single-engine turboprop aircraft will carry six to eight people in a large, comfortable interior. It is being designed to be versatile, burn less fuel, and be able to maintain approach speeds at large busy airports, yet land on short, grass or gravel strip. “LORD is pleased to be part of the Kestrel Aircraft team and proud to be associated with a leading, state-of-the-art aircraft,” said Matt McGill, LORD Lead Project Engineer.  “We look forward to serving Kestrel and their customers throughout the life of this exciting program.”
