Amsterdam October 17, 2012 – Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and HMSHost, a world leader in travel dining, announce the extension of the current food and beverage contract at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol till 2027. This agreement covers all 75 HMSHost food and beverage locations at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and operations are expected to generate overall revenues of around €2 billion.
Active at the airport since 1995, HMSHost is the main food & beverage operator in the Dutch hub, a showcase of innovation in offering and services for travellers. HMSHost was given the Best Food & Beverage Concession Programme award at the 2012 FAB Awards.
“This contract renewal consolidates a long standing partnership with Schiphol, a key airport for the HMSHost food & beverage business, and endorses the competitiveness of our business model in offering successful concepts to airport operators”, said HMSHost International CEO Walter Seib.
Maarten de Groof, Executive Vice President & CCO of Schiphol Group: “At Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, one of our core values is hospitality. We are keen to be and remain Europe’s Preferred Airport and therefore expect our business partners to meet the same high standards we have set for ourselves. We are pleased to be able to continue our fruitful collaboration with HMSHost.”
The offering proposed by HMSHost is designed to meet the needs of all kinds of travellers. One of the more innovative projects is Fair Taste Café, the first sustainable grab-and-go concept, with an offering based on fair trade products, and winner of the airport operator’s 2012 Corporate Responsibility Award. Other concepts include bread!, a new-generation sandwich bar where baguettes can be made to personal tastes, Dutch Kitchen, a restaurant specializing in local cuisine, Bubbles Seafood & Wine Bar, drawing on local seafaring traditions and Café Chocolat, a gourmet patisserie that won the airports Innovation Award in 2009. A restaurant specializing in Spanish cuisine, Cafe Comunal, was recently opened in Concourse C, while Harvest Market, featuring a wide assortment of fresh local produce, is scheduled to open in Concourse D early 2013.
With over 300 destinations, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol Airport reached 50 million passengers in 2011 (up 10.2%) to finish 4th in the European airport traffic rankings. It is now considered an "aerotropolis" that offers a dynamic environment capable of providing services right round the clock.
