Montréal, September 12th 2012: Today, A J Walter Aviation, the world’s leading independent provider of integrated aviation services, completed its purchase of the component repair business of Aveos Fleet Performance.  The Montréal facility will house AJW Technique and become the organisation’s new global headquarters for the repair and overhaul of aircraft components.

AJW has enlisted strong support from the Government of Québec and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) to formulate a new business initiative that will support a sustainable and substantial MRO business from the outset. AJW has an established and growing global customer base of more than 800 airlines, more than 400 aircraft under contract, annual group sales in excess of $400m and expenditure on overhaul and repair services that will exceed $150m in 2012. As AJW Technique grows to offer full supply chain component repair management, it will reduce turnaround times and contribute further to the organisation’s pledge to deliver measureable cost savings for customers.

Once the transition is completed, AJW Technique will provide many new jobs over the long-term and build upon the local aviation heritage through partnership with the highly skilled Canadian workforce.

Christopher Whiteside, President, A J Walter Aviation, outlines the business vision: “Our dynamic edge will separate us from the competition at every strategic level. Our customers already demand competitive service levels with cost guarantees and we intend to raise the bar even further within the industry. Over the next few months we will rebuild workshop capabilities and ramp up the services that will form the core of our programme.

“Getting to this stage has been a challenging experience over many weeks and AJW would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone involved. We have ambitious plans for the future and are eager to share the pioneering spirit that has stood us in good stead for the past 80 years in aviation with the people of Québec.

AJW Technique represents a natural evolution for the AJW Group.  It complements the diversified business model that is focused on the delivery of specialist aviation services worldwide and the strategic location of Montréal, only five hours from the UK, facilitates the provision of wider services throughout the Americas.
