FlightSafety Promotes Bert Sawyer to Director, Military Programs

He will be based at FlightSafety's Simulation facility in Tulsa, OK.

LA GUARDIA AIRPORT, NEW YORK (August 22, 2012) – FlightSafety International is pleased to announce that Bert Sawyer has been promoted to Director, Military Programs for FlightSafety’s Simulation facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

“Bert is a valued member of our management team and most deserving of this promotion to Director, Military Programs,” said Rick Armstrong, Vice President Simulation. “His background and experience with FlightSafety’s military programs, management, strategic planning and business development have helped us to obtain, deliver and support many important contracts for flight training devices and services.

Prior to joining FlightSafety in 1990, Bert served in the United States Air Force with the 41st Electronic Combat Squadron (Compass Call) specializing in Electronic Warfare systems and Combat Surveillance equipment and was most recently with the Tulsa Air National Guard.

His responsibilities at FlightSafety have included Logistics Engineering, Training and Instruction, and worldwide Field Support for Flight Training Devices. His oversight and management of several important FlightSafety programs including the C-17 have helped the company to be awarded Boeing’s Outstanding Supplier award for two consecutive years. Bert’s experience with the development, manufacture, and qualification of simulators built by FlightSafety for the United States Military and Department of Defense includes the design and implementation of the HH-60G Aerial Gunner Full Flight Simulator for the Air Force Search and Rescue program.

Bert has managed FlightSafety’s business development activities for follow-on government contracts since 2006.  During this time Bert was promoted to Deputy Director for FlightSafety’s military simulation programs.

He graduated from the Community College of the Air Force with a degree in Applied Science Electronics, Technology/Avionics, and from Kaplan University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems.
