SAVANNAH, Ga., August 15, 2012 — Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. announced today that it has appointed Edgar Orsi as the general manager of Gulfstream Brazil, its recently opened service center in Sorocaba. Orsi reports to Joseph Rivera, director, International Operations, Gulfstream.

Most recently, Orsi spent seven years in São Paulo as South America Aftermarket Sales manager for Honeywell, selling avionics and mechanical systems and services to business and general aviation operators.

From 1999 to 2005, Orsi was Honeywell’s on-site technical and program manager for two Embraer regional airliners, the ERJ 170 and ERJ 190 families. From 1991 to 1998, he was Honeywell’s manager of Marketing for air transport and business aviation market segments in Latin America.

“Edgar’s knowledge of the Latin American business aviation market and his relationships within it are tremendous resources for our operators,” said Mark Burns, president, Product Support, Gulfstream. “They’ll surely benefit from his in-depth avionics background as well as his familiarity with the Brazilian culture. With Edgar at the helm, we’ll continue to provide the top level service our customers have come to expect from our Sorocaba facility.”

Orsi earned bachelor’s degrees in business administration and electrical/electronic engineering from São Paulo-based Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie and Escola de Engenharia Maua, respectively. A native of Brazil, he is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English.

Gulfstream Brazil, located 60 miles (97 kilometers) from São Paulo, the world’s seventh-largest city by population, is certified by Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) to perform maintenance, repairs and alterations on all Gulfstream aircraft registered in-country. Site personnel include ANAC and U.S. Federal Aviation Administration-certified technicians. The latter can perform maintenance on U.S.-registered Gulfstream aircraft anywhere in Brazil.

Gulfstream Brazil consists of a 24,000-square-foot hangar, which can accommodate a mix of four to six large- and mid-cabin aircraft, nearly 8,000 square feet of company and customer offices, and a 3,000-square-foot bonded parts warehouse.

Brazil continues to be one of the strongest markets for business jets, particularly those manufactured by Gulfstream. Since 2009, the Gulfstream fleet in Brazil has grown from 14 aircraft to 36. The Gulfstream fleet in Latin America has grown from 58 in 2006 to more than 150.

To support this growth, Gulfstream established a spare parts and materials inventory at consignment partner Morro Vermelho Taxi Aereo LTDA at Congonhas Airport in São Paulo in 2008. That inventory has grown to approximately $9 million. Gulfstream has also put more than approximately $1.5 million in parts and materials at its bonded warehouse at Gulfstream Brazil.

Additional resources in Latin America include four field service representatives and company-authorized warranty facilities Aerocentro de Servicios, C.A. in Caracas, Venezuela, and Aerovics, S.A., in Toluca, Mexico.
