Perryville, MO July 19, 2012 – Sabreliner Corporation recently announced that Terry Watkins has joined their team as Paint Operations Manager at their recently opened $7 million aircraft painting hangar at Perryville Municipal Airport (KO2).
“Terry comes to us from Midcoast/Jet Aviation where he was employed for nearly 13 years,” says Steven Sperry, VP Business Development, Sabreliner Corporation. “His extensive, hands-on experience, as well as his technical knowledge makes him a great fit for our organization.”
Sabreliner’s new 32,000 square foot paint facility, which includes a large bay for stripping and sanding and another for aircraft painting, was opened in September, 2011. In the new facility workers use an electrostatic paint process, which uses the physics of positive and negative charges to reduce the amount of paint used, and reduce the ozone-depleting emissions during paint application. The electrostatic paint guns used by Sabreliner technicians reduce emissions by 35 percent compared to a standard paint gun. In addition, their state-of-the art hangar is climate controlled and has a three-stage filtration system.
The expanded hangar space allows Sabreliner to not only handle a higher volume of aircraft, but also larger sized aircraft, up to a GIV. This gives Sabreliner the capabilities to better serve business aviation aircraft owners and operators.
In Terry’s new position, as Paint Shop Manager, his first order of business was to oversee a full, two-tone/split base paint job on a Lear 60. The aircraft was delivered on time and on budget.
In addition to Lear 60 delivery, Sabreliner recently delivered a full paint job on a Citation X, and has a Falcon 50 scheduled to be in the paint facility by the end of the month.
