Becker Avionics Aircraft Intercommunications System (ICS) Selected for C-130 Retrofit

Miramar, FL June 28, 2012 – Becker Avionics recently completed a intercom system (ICS) modernization and upgrade project for C-130/L-382 aircraft with an undisclosed customer in conjunction with a prime U.S. aircraft integration company. The project replaced the aging aircraft ICS system and wiring with the modern state-of-the-art digital audio management system, the DVCS6100. The ICS upgrade was completed on short notice with a fast turn-around time. The Becker Avionics DVCS6100 digital audio and intercom system provides improved audio quality and clarity for the C- 130/L-382 aircraft, as well as much greater system functionality and flexibility for the aircraft operator. Additionally, the new system offers improved reliability and reduced weight and wiring. The Becker DVCS6100 package installed in the C-130 consists of Audio Control Units (ACU) for Pilot, Copilot, Flight Engineer, Flight Instructor, a Navigators Console, along with several main cabin stations.

The Becker DVCS6100 was chosen by the customer due to its unique ability to effectively manage and control multiple audio sources in the aircraft. Becker’s DVCS, with its software configurable profiles, provides the flexibility to specifically customize the system to meet the demanding operational requirements of C- 130/L-382 aircraft.

Brett Gardner, Director of Sales and Marketing at Becker commented, "This was an interesting and exciting project to tackle because of the size aircraft and mission scope. The customer came to us because of the reputation, features and well-known reliability of our DVCS product. This particular client joins the growing number of C-130 customers that have selected our DVCS6100 for their demanding mission profiles. Whether it’s for humanitarian relief, fire fighting or transporting cargo, to upgrading and extending the service life of these critical assets, our DVCS6100 helps ensure viable tactical airlift capability.”

About the DVCS6100

The DVCS6100 design provides the customer with ability to match a wide range of operational requirements with only one system. The built-in scalability and flexibility reduces not only the cost and time requirements for constant re-engineering and certification for a tailored system solution, but also reduces the learning curve for integration, maintenance and troubleshooting time. Through software programming options, the system is both easily and quickly configurable to individual customer requirements, thus saving time and money.

The DVCS’ open system architecture technology provides for operational comfort and superior voice quality, ensuring that almost any customer requirement can be met, while providing crystal clear communication for crew and passengers.

The state-of-the-art Digital DVCS6100 will enhance the effectiveness of any aerial platform. When compared to a legacy analog audio system, Digital technology provides simplified installation, improved performance, reduced wiring and weight, along with reduced installation and maintenance costs. Furthermore, the comprehensive built-in-test (BIT) feature enables line maintenance crews to easily diagnose/isolate failures and to replace system components quickly.

No matter what type of mission; from EMS to law enforcement, to passenger transport and surveillance or utility operations, the Becker Digital Audio system ensures a more modern and capable aerial platform. At Becker, they focus on meeting individual requirements with the highest commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
