NEW YORK, June 26, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CLEAR has been awarded the prestigious SAFETY Act Certification by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), making it the only expedited traveler solution to be placed on DHS's "Approved Product List for Homeland Security."

CLEAR seeks to improve the airport experience by enhancing security and offering speed and predictability to busy travelers. With its innovative biometric technology platform, CLEAR securely automates the identification process at airports enabling its members to verify their identity using their fingerprint or iris. Homeland Security has always been at the forefront of CLEAR's mission, and the company values the SAFETY Act Certification as recognition of its unique and secure technology.

CLEAR's airport partners also benefit from the SAFETY Act Certification, as its liability protections extend to them as well.

"CLEAR helps airports achieve the most effective security in the most efficient way all while increasing throughput and delivering a better experience for all travelers," said Caryn Seidman-Becker, CLEAR Chairman and CEO. "This Certification further protects our airport partners and we continue to work tirelessly to bring CLEAR's service to airports across the nation."

On December 21, 2010, CLEAR was awarded SAFETY Act Designation from DHS, a prerequisite for Certification. In order to then receive SAFETY Act Certification, CLEAR's technology demonstrated consistent positive results, as well as proven procedures for installation, use, and maintenance of its systems. This Certification follows a rigorous review of the systems, processes and policies that are part of the CLEAR solution, and provides significant liability protections for CLEAR and its airport partners.

CLEAR's Certification as a DHS Qualified Anti-terrorism Technology comes on the heels of its recent launch of expedited traveler services at two additional airports: San Francisco International Airport and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. To date, CLEAR's member-only lanes have been used over 600,000 times across its national network.

"CLEAR is the whole package: Certainty of speed, high standards of customer service and, of course, increased security," noted Seidman-Becker. "We are honored to continue working with industry thought-leaders and the Department of Homeland Security to better serve all travelers."

CLEAR has been Certified by the Department of Homeland Security as a Qualified Anti-terrorism Technology under the Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies Act of 2002 (the SAFETY Act).
