Lord Corporation's Technology to be Presented at EAA Convention

Thomas Law, manager, Product Support Engineering, will present a paper at the EAA on July 26 at 2:30 p.m. and is titled “SMOOTH Engine Mounts & Nose Wheel Shimmy Dampers.”

(Cary, NC – June 25, 2012) – LORD Corporation – a leader in the management of vibration, motion and noise control – has announced Thomas Law, Manager, Product Support Engineering, will present a paper at the Experimental Aircraft Association’s (EAA) Annual AirVenture Oshkosh Convention.

The event will take place July 23-29 at the Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wis. Law’s paper will be presented on July 26 at 2:30 p.m. and is titled “SMOOTH Engine Mounts & Nose Wheel Shimmy Dampers.” He will discuss methods to select a SMOOTH engine suspension system where the amount of vibration felt within the aircraft is minimized while controlling the excursions of the engine and reducing vibrator inputs to aircraft electronic components. Law will also discuss nose wheel shimmy and explain how it occurs, as well as the steps for removing shimmy from your nose wheel to maximize the life of the nose wheel components.

Law is a member of the Product Support Engineering group responsible for aerospace fielded products. He began his career at LORD Corporation in 1975 as a student engineer in Erie, Pa., working on fixed-wing and industrial products. Law has worked on high-profile projects such as the LM-431 system for the Dash 8 aircraft, mounting systems for Boeing 757 and 767. Law has worked on several high-profile projects including the development of engine mounting systems for the DeHavilland Dash 8 and Boeing 757 & 767 aircraft.

He received his Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from RIT in Rochester, N.Y. Law holds four patents related to fixed-wing products including thrust reverser system isolators, engine systems and APU isolation systems.
