George Lucas Among Presenters at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh's Fly-In Theater
After showing a preview of his film Red Tails at AirVenture 2011, Lucas returns to present the full-length version of the film on Wednesday, July 25.
EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wis. — (June 13, 2012) — Legendary filmmaker George Lucas will be back at EAA AirVenture in 2012 and will highlight a diverse list of presenters and feature films nightly at the popular EAA Fly-In Theater, which is presented by Ford Motor Company and supported by Hamilton Watches. The 60th annual EAA AirVenture will take place July 23-29 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh.
After showing a preview of his film Red Tails at AirVenture 2011, Lucas returns to present the full-length version of the film on Wednesday, July 25. Red Tails centers on the heroic Tuskegee Airmen, the first African-American pilots to fly in a combat squadron during World War II. To make the evening even more special, Lucas will present the movie alongside surviving Tuskegee Airmen, as well as Edsel Ford from Ford Motor Company.
Also returning is pilot and EAA member David Ellison, who will present his 2011 film, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, starring Tom Cruise, as well as trailers for two of his upcoming movies on Tuesday, July 24.
A special presentation scheduled for Thursday, July 26, will be announced at a later date.
Reminiscent of the drive-in theaters of days gone by, the Fly-In Theater provides guests with the perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy free popcorn after a long day of air shows, exhibits, and workshops. Located adjacent to Camp Scholler, the theater hosts a celebrity presenter and presents a different film each night on a five-story screen, giving guests yet another way to indulge their passion for aviation.
Films, which are included in AirVenture daily admission, are shown nightly from Sunday, July 22, through Saturday, July 28 (weather permitting), with presenters starting at 8:30 p.m. (with the exception of Saturday, which begins at 9:30 p.m.). The Fly-In Theater nightly lineup is:
- Sunday, July 22: 633 Squadron (1964, NR), starring Cliff Robertson
- Monday, July 23: 30 Seconds Over Tokyo (1944, NR), starring Spencer Tracy
