Tajikistan Operator Somon Air Chooses A J Walter Aviation to Provide B737NG Power-By-The-Hour Support
This 5-year contract covers Somon Air’s total existing fleet of B737NG aircraft and includes the location of a Main Base Kit at Dushanbe Airport.
London, 28th May 2012: Somon Air, Tajikistan’s first private airline, has chosen A J Walter Aviation to provide power-by-the-hour support for its current fleet of B737NG aircraft. This five-year agreement for four aircraft is AJW’s first contract with Somon Air. The agreement includes the location of a Main Base Kit in Dushanbe Airport to support the airline’s operational efficiency.
Since its formation in 2008, Somon Air has mainly aimed its passenger service at Eastern Europe and the Middle East with a route to Dubai. It is committed to expanding its flight network globally and maximising the productivity and efficiency of its operational capability, with AJW support as a cornerstone of its development plans. Somon Air also serves as the official carrier of the President of Republic of Tajikistan.
“We are extremely proud to be working with Somon Air” explains Christopher Whiteside, President of A J Walter Aviation. “This is our first contract in Tajikistan and we have a specialist team and strategic stock of Boeing and Airbus spares in place across the region to ensure that we deliver our trademark power-by-the-hour support to those operators seeking operational efficiency.”
Olim Charyev, Technical Director of Somon Air comments “AJW’s professional attitude and speed of service is complemented by their willingness to learn about our specific business needs and find ways to help us achieve significant business growth. We are confident that we can use AJW’s global and local experience to help give us competitive advantage in our markets.”
This new contract once again underlines the range and benefits of PBH, pooling and leasing options available from AJW. Already highly regarded for its award-winning 24/7 AOG and critical component services, AJW is now successfully developing its integrated consumables management and aircraft engine services business. AJW now supports over 400 aircraft under contract and is the partner of choice for many airlines and MRO organisations looking for innovative operational and commercial flexibility.
