ASIG Signs Exclusive Engine Wash Deal

EVENDALE, OH – May 3, 2012 – Aircraft Service International Group (ASIG) has signed an exclusive agreement to become GE Aviation’s third-party service provider for ClearCore TM engine wash systems for commercial and military engines in the United States.

GE Aviation will provide its mobile ClearCore TM engine wash units to ASIG in support of ASIG’s service provider’s agreements with many U.S. airports. ASIG’s offering of ClearCore TM services will be launched at airports in California and Florida and then expanded to airports in other major U.S. cities.

Commenting on the agreement, John David Barker, Vice President, Business Development, ASIG, said “The ClearCore TM services exclusive is a truly innovative and complementary expansion of our Technical Services capabilities.  We are delighted to be able to deliver a service solution to our airline customers that will allow them to achieve significant savings on fuel consumption and engine maintenance costs, while simultaneously reducing their environmental impact.”

Keith P. Ryan, President, ASIG, said, “Our new partnership with GE Aviation, a pioneer in aviation technology, is a strategic fit with ASIG’s vision of being a dynamic world class supplier to the global aerospace industry.  With operations at over 70 international airports worldwide, ASIG is in a unique position to leverage our infrastructure to deliver innovative solutions to our shared customer base.”

“GE Aviation is proud to partner with ASIG, a leading global service provider for more than 60 years,” said John Gough, director of Fuel & Carbon Solutions and ClearCore TM products at GE Aviation. “With airline operators seeking fuel burn savings and extended time on wing for their fleets, cost-saving engine performance restoration services utilizing ClearCore TM wash systems will prove to be an increasingly popular solution.”

An engine’s performance deteriorates over time due to mechanical wear and environmental contamination, such as dust and sand. The deterioration caused by these environmental factors can be lessened with GE’s ClearCore TM system. The mobile unit enables operators to quickly and easily clean surface contaminants, like dust and other environmental deposits, from inner aircraft engine components to maximize operating efficiency.

GE’s ClearCore™ engine wash system combined with GE diagnostics can provide significant cost savings to airlines. For a fleet of 10 GE90-115B-powered Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, even a modest improvement of 0.25% from the ClearCore™ engine wash system could produce annual fuel savings of close to $500,000 while reducing annual CO2 emissions by 1,900 metric tons.”

ClearCore TM engine wash system is designed to fully capture wash water and prevent runoff during the wash operation. The wash water is then filtered for reuse. An integrated vacuum system eliminates water pooling. While the amount of performance recovered can vary based on operating conditions and wash interval cycle, customers who use ClearCore TM services can see an improvement in the exhaust gas temperature (EGT), specific fuel consumption and time on-wing.

The ClearCore TM engine wash system can be used on any aircraft engine. Customers can purchase a full-service package with GE providing the washes or can choose to purchase the equipment only. The water collection system can be used with existing front-end washing systems.

GE’s ClearCore TM engine wash system is part of GE’s ecomaginationTM product portfolio, which is GE’s commitment to develop new, cost-effective technologies that enhance customers’ environmental and operating performance.
