Avianca & Taca Sign Codeshare Agreement with Aeromexico
The companies signed a trade agreement that will allow them to offer passengers more destinations throughout the region.
Avianca and Taca, both owned by AviancaTaca Holding SA, announced the signing of a trade agreement with Aeromexico to explore opportunities that will allow the airlines to supplement their network of routes; a crucial business decision for all companies involved. With the signing of this agreement, the companies give passengers access to new destinations, a greater choice of service, more frequent flights and a greater number of alternatives to travel in the region.
As of now, airline representatives are working together to establish the mechanisms for the development of the codesharing agreement, which will be implemented in stages. In addition, both companies will also explore strengthening their alliance by joining their loyalty programs.
The codeshare operation between Avianca and Aeromexico is scheduled to begin during the first half of 2012, benefiting the exchange between Mexico and Colombia; while the codeshare between Taca and Aeromexico is scheduled to begin during the second half of the year and will benefit routes between South & Central America with Mexico.
The implementation of the agreements is subject to the approval by the aeronautical authorities.
Benefits for Avianca, Taca, and Aeromexico Passengers
When choosing Avianca and / or Taca codeshare flights with Aeromexico, passengers will benefit from greater efficiency in travel with a single ticket and a single point of contact throughout their trip and, eventually, the accumulation and redemption of miles for the loyalty programs.
