EMBRAER COMMERCIAL AVIATION APPOINTS JOHN HOLLAND AVIATION SERVICES AS AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER IN AUSTRALIA

Feb. 15, 2012

Singapore, February 15, 2012 – Embraer appointed John Holland Aviation Services (JHAS), today, as an Embraer Authorized Service Center (EASC) to provide line and heavy maintenance services for the E-jets family of aircraft from its base in Melbourne. JHAS is the first aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services organization to be appointed by Embraer Commercial Aviation as an EASC in Asia Pacific.

“Embraer has a long-standing relationship with JHAS, as they already provide a number of MRO services to our customers in the country. This agreement reinforces our relationship, and I am certain it will allow us to up the ante in our customer support offerings to our operators, down under,” said Alex Glock, Vice President, Asia Pacific – Embraer Commercial Aviation.

“It is a great honor to be the first Embraer authorized service center in the Asia Pacific region and to join its global services network. We look forward to continue providing only the highest standards of service for Embraer’s fleet of E-Jets in Australia,” said Ian Wolfe, General Manager, John Holland Aviation Services.

Present in Australia since 1978, with the arrival of the EMB 110 Bandeirante, the first Embraer commercial airplane, which is still in service down under, the E-Jets have been a cornerstone of both business and leisure travelers in Australia, since their introduction in the country in 2007, with Virgin Australia.

Embraer’s E-Jets have since supported the development of new routes and business opportunities. For instance, Virgin Australia has used these jets to reach locations such as the Christmas Islands, which is just over a 3-hour hop from Perth. The airline is currently implementing new business class seats in its E190 jets to optimize the dual role they play for business and leisure travelers on high-density, high-frequency routes. Embraer’s E170 are also playing a supporting role in Australia’s booming mining industry with Airnorth’s fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) operations, attesting to the E-Jets versatile mission capabilities.
