SAN DIEGO, CA – (October 31, 2011) – Daniel R. Hulen has returned to San Diego and Schubach Aviation to serve as general manager, announced Henry Schubach, president and founder of the leading San Diego air charter company.
In this role, Hulen will serve as company liaison to owners and pilots of the company’s managed aircraft operated on its Part 135 Charter Certificate. He also will be responsible for developing new client and aircraft owner relationships. He will participate in local government and regulatory groups that impact flight operations at Palomar Airport and serve as a representative on the company’s behalf. Prior to moving to the San Francisco Bay area, Hulen served nearly four years as director of operations for Schubach Aviation, helping to recertify its FAA Part 135 Certificate to a 10-seat or more operation, obtain a repair station certificate for the maintenance department, and incorporate the Cinema Air avionics repair station into the Schubach Aviation parent company as Hangar One Maintenance and Hangar One Avionics. Previous career experience includes nearly three-and-a-half years as director of flight standards with Jet Source Charter, two years as Director of Operations for Air by Jet, LLC, and another year-plus as director of flight standards for Schubach Aviation.
His previous career experience includes having been employed 16 years with Price Club (which became Costco), where he worked his way up from cashier to warehouse inventory auditor. He served three years in the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) as a Vietnam-era veteran, receiving a meritorious promotion to corporal. He was honorably discharged from military service to the USMC.
Hulen earned his Bachelor of Science degree in aviation management from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale (SIUC), where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 grade point average. He received an Associates Degree in archaeology and anthropology from San Diego Mesa College. He completed ARG/US Safety Manager training, holds an air transport pilot license, and has single-and multi-engine instructor ratings.
