The Diamond Award is a certificate of excellence in the FAA's Aviation Maintenance Technical Award program.

Engelhard Corporation has been awarded the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) prestigious Diamond Award for technical training in aircraft maintenance and repair.

A world-leading surface and materials science company, Engelhard's diverse offerings include advanced thermal spray coatings and repairs for aircraft structures. The company offers a complete overhaul and repair service for flap tracks on Bombardier's DHC-8 aircraft. Engelhard's overhaul service enhances the plane's flap track roller surface and extends the life of the part through application of a high-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) tungsten carbide coating.

Engelhard also provides a similar coating for repair of landing gear on Boeing's 737 next-generation aircraft.

The FAA Diamond Award is the most prestigious certificate of excellence offered by the FAA's Aviation Maintenance Technical (AMT) award program. The program began in 1992 to encourage aviation maintenance technicians and their employers to actively participate in ongoing training courses in aircraft maintenance, FAA regulations and policy.

Engelhard received the award in recognition of the large number of employees at its East Windsor, CT, plant who received the training.

"We are very proud of our employees and their commitment to training and excellence," said Frank Gerlando, general manager of Engelhard's East Windsor facility.

"Their hard work and dedication enables Engelhard to better serve our customers in this critical technology application."
