The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) presented Goodrich Corporation's (NYSE: GR) Everett, Washington-based Aviation Technical Services facility with a Corporate Diamond Award under its Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Program. The site specializes in airframe maintenance and modifications and component repair and overhaul services. This is the sixth consecutive year that the team has achieved this honor. In addition, individual AMT awards ranging from "Ruby" to "Bronze" were given to over 50% of the Everett team.
Goodrich's Alabama Service Center, an aircraft component/nacelle/thrust reverser Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility, located in Foley, Alabama, will also be honored with an FAA Diamond Award for its fifth consecutive year. In September, 60% of this facility's eligible employees will also receive FAA Awards ranging from "Ruby" to "Bronze" levels of recognition.
The percentage of staff achieving AMT awards at each facility is twice the requirement necessary to obtain a Corporate Diamond Award.
The AMT Awards program is designed to encourage aviation maintenance technicians and their employers to take full advantage of available training opportunities that will help to improve services. The elite Corporate Diamond rating is the most prestigious award given by the FAA. To qualify, 25% or more of a company's eligible workforce must receive one of the five levels of an individual AMT award. A Diamond award, the highest AMT level achievable, requires 58 hours of maintenance training, two hours of regulatory training, plus at least three credit hours or 40 classroom hours of college-level courses within the year.
