Katrina Relief Efforts
Working with the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA, NATA is helping with Hurricane Katrina efforts.
To assist in the relief efforts in the Gulf Coast in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the National Air Transportation Association (NATA) continues to work with the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency to coordinate efforts and resources. - Communication equipment (satellite phones)
- Fueling personnel
- Operations personnel
- Electricians
- Crews to install the security/perimeter fencing
- Crews to temporarily patch the roof
- Cleaning supplies
- Safety equipment
- Roofing materials -- Roofing crews will need lifts (40’ +/-)
- Airfield/terminal electricians
- LEOs for crowd control
- Operation personnel to assist in the EOC operations
- Provisions

Those NATA members wishing to assist in this request are asked to contact Mario Rodriguez at MSY via email, marior@flymsy.com or by telephone at (504) 450-1600.
Federal officials continue to strongly encourage that NATA members wishing to assist provide financial donations. A list of FEMA-approved charities can be viewed on the association’s Hurricane Katrina Resources Web Page www.nata.aero/about/HurricaneKatrinaResources.jsp
NATA has also established the NATA Foundation Hurricane Relief Fund, www.nata.aero/about/contributions.jsp All contributions received through this fund will go directly to NATA members affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Finally, the association continues to regularly update its Hurricane Katrina Resources Web Page www.nata.aero/about/HurricaneKatrinaResources.jsp. with the latest operational information, airports status, fueling prices, and how individuals can contribute. Should you have any further questions, please contact Eric R. Byer, NATA’s Vice President of Government & Industry Affairs, at ebyer@nata.aero.
