HOUSTON – Wing Aviation hosted its third-annual Super Bowl party and golf tournament recently, benefiting the Wing Aviation Scholarship Fund, an annual program dedicated to awarding at least two $2,500-$5,000 scholarships per academic year for students attending Westwood College of Aviation Technology.
The 2006 event was successful in raising over $18,000 for the Wing Aviation Scholarship Fund. The event boasted attendance of more than 250 attendees, a record for the Super Bowl party and over 100 golfers at the golf tournament.
Wing Aviation established the program to recognize and aid deserving students in the Houston and surrounding areas that are eligible for the awards based on need and academic achievement by providing assistance with technical school expenses. Each year, Wing holds this event to create awareness and raise funds for the scholarship program. The 2005 event raised more than $13,000 for scholarships awarded through the Professional Aviation Maintenance Association.
"Each year this scholarship fund-raiser grows larger and larger with the support of the aviation industry and local community," said Brian P. Wing, president of Wing Aviation. "It was wonderful to see so many people come out on their day off and support a great cause."
To qualify for the scholarship, students must have an established school record at Westwood College and meet minimum GPA and attendance requirements.
